Description: PUMPS EWS-440 – a 440 HP three-cylinder mud pump engineered for maximum reliability and minimum total cost of ownership. Discover the detailed specifications of its forged steel power end, advanced hydraulic components, and API 7K-compliant assemblies.

Power end-a solid foundation for forging and precision engineering

Framework structure: optimization of rigidity and strength to weight ratio

The EWS-440's power-end frame features a welded structure of high-strength steel plates, with post-weld stress relief treatment to ensure dimensional stability and exceptional structural strength. Critical load-bearing areas including the crankshaft and main bearing housing are reinforced with special strengthening measures, delivering unmatched rigidity.

crankshaft: smooth and reliable power core

The core component of the power unit is a crankshaft forged from high-quality 42CrMo alloy steel. This precision-engineered shaft undergoes rigorous multi-stage heat treatment (normalizing and quenching), delivering exceptional fatigue resistance and impact toughness. Power is transmitted through a meticulously designed integral herringbone gear system with a gear ratio of 4.578:1.

Crosshead and connecting rod: durability guarantee in reciprocating motion

The EWS-440's crosshead is a monolithic casting of high-grade ductile iron, delivering exceptional wear resistance and vibration damping. Its guide plates feature replaceable bronze components-a time-tested material renowned for its low-friction wear characteristics. This innovative combination of ductile iron and bronze forms a proven friction design in engineering practice.

Lubrication system: active protection to ensure trouble-free operation

The EWS-440 features an advanced dual lubrication system that combines forced and splash lubrication 31. An independent gear oil pump delivers filtered lubricant to the crosshead guide plates and all critical bearings, ensuring continuous and adequate lubrication and cooling under all operating conditions.

Hydraulic end-a durable example of advanced materials and manufacturing processes

Hydraulic end module: Forged as the base, precision treatment as the soul

The EWS-440 features a direct-flow hydraulic end module with valve-on-valve design, forged from premium alloy steels including 35CrMo or 40CrMnMo. Its manufacturing strictly adheres to API 7K specifications, undergoing rigorous heat treatment processes (normalizing, quenching, and tempering) along with internal hardening treatments. These combined measures achieve an inner wall hardness of HB 285-330, with mechanical properties surpassing standard requirements. To combat corrosive fluids, optional nickel plating coating enhances corrosion resistance on the module's surface.

Valve assembly: precision, durability and easy maintenance integration

This pump features an API #4 specification valve assembly, with both the valve body and seat forged from premium alloy steel and treated through carburizing and quenching to achieve exceptional surface hardness and superior internal toughness. The cage-type valve design incorporates replaceable on-site polyurethane rubber seals.

Durable goods: A strategic choice to reduce total cost of ownership

The selection of wear-prone components is not merely about initial procurement costs-it's a strategic decision that directly impacts your operational budget. We offer multiple cylinder liner and piston options, enabling you to make optimal choices between upfront costs and long-term Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) based on specific operational conditions.

Cylinder sleeve technology: high chromium bimetallic and zirconia ceramic

High-chromium bimetal cylinder liner: This composite structure combines a high-strength forged steel outer sleeve (providing strength and compressive resistance) with a high-chromium cast iron inner sleeve (delivering wear resistance). Through centrifugal casting and heat treatment, the inner sleeve achieves a hardness of HRC 60-69. Under standard operating conditions, it delivers an operational lifespan of approximately 800 hours.

Zirconia ceramic cylinder liner: A premium choice representing top-tier performance. Featuring unmatched hardness (HRC 90+), exceptional wear and corrosion resistance, and superior inner wall finish, this durable component delivers a service life exceeding 4,000 hours-5 to 10 times longer than bimetallic cylinder liners.

Piston and piston rod assembly: born for perfect sealing

We provide integrated bonded polyurethane pistons that chemically bond high-performance polyurethane elastomers to 45# steel or 40Cr forged metal cores. This design delivers exceptional tear resistance, wear resistance, and extrusion resistance under high-pressure conditions up to 7,500 PSI and temperatures reaching 300°F (149°C).

The piston rod is forged from 42CrMo high-strength alloy steel and undergoes advanced surface treatment. In addition to traditional hard chrome plating, we strongly recommend using HVOF (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel) tungsten carbide coating. Compared to chrome plating, HVOF coating offers greater density, higher bonding strength, and near-porosity-free characteristics. This means it provides unparalleled wear resistance and corrosion resistance, significantly extending the service life of piston rods and related packing seals. Similar to ceramic cylinder liners, HVOF-coated piston rods achieve lower total cost of ownership by reducing maintenance frequency and NPT, making them the optimal choice for demanding operating environments.
