Power End: The Unwavering Foundation of Performance
The power end, the heart of the pump, determines its overall lifespan and operational stability through robust design. Every component of the JWS-340's power end is meticulously engineered to withstand extreme intermittent high-load conditions, delivering unmatched durability to customers.
Power Frame: Excellent Rigid and Vibration Reduction Performance
The JWS-340's power frame features an integrated high-strength steel plate welded structure with post-weld stress relief treatment. This design choice stems from a thorough understanding of the practical application scenarios for workover pumps. Typically designed as skid-mounted units requiring frequent relocation between different well sites, the frame's strength-to-weight ratio and resistance to transportation jolts are critical under such conditions. Welded steel structures demonstrate higher tensile strength and toughness than cast iron. Their excellent weldability enables on-site repairs during unexpected damage, significantly reducing downtime.
Transmission System: Perfect Combination of Forged Crankshaft and Herringbone Gear
Every detail of the transmission system is designed to achieve smooth and efficient power transmission and to maximize the service life.
- The JWS-340's core component is a dual-ended, integral forged alloy steel crankshaft. Its precision-milled journal and polished crankpin ensure optimal bearing fit and minimal friction loss. Crafted from premium 42CrMo chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, this design guarantees long-term reliability even under extreme operating conditions.
- Connecting Rod and Crosshead: The connecting rod is constructed from high-strength stainless steel, combining durability with corrosion resistance. Its design features precision aluminum alloy bearings at the crankshaft's larger end and bronze bushings at the crosshead's smaller end, an optimized combination tailored to varying load and wear patterns throughout the engine's operational cycle. The crosshead, cast iron with an oil reservoir, slides along replaceable bronze guide plates, forming a durable, low-friction reciprocating assembly that is easy to maintain.
Lubrication and Bearing System: The Lifeline of Power End
Reliable lubrication serves as the primary safeguard against catastrophic failures in power systems, which often result in prolonged downtime and substantial maintenance costs. The JWS-340's meticulously engineered lubrication system ensures continuous and adequate lubrication for all moving components.
- Lubrication system: The system combines internal pressure lubrication with splash lubrication. A specially designed low-speed lubrication system, powered by an independent chain-driven oil pump, ensures that all critical bearings and gears receive adequate oil film protection during pump startup and low-speed operation, effectively preventing premature wear caused by dry friction.
- Bearing configuration: The power end is equipped with heavy-duty, wear-resistant rolling bearings, as detailed below:
The main bearing of the crankshaft is a heavy load tapered roller bearing, which can bear the huge radial and axial loads at the same time.
The crankshaft center bearing is roller bearing.
Big end bearing of connecting rod (crank pin): uses precision aluminum alloy bearing bush, specially designed for high impact load.
The connecting rod pin bearing (cross pin) is made of bronze bushing and is suitable for the swing friction condition under high load.
The combination of this targeted bearing selection and comprehensive lubrication system forms the unparalleled reliability foundation of the JWS-340 power end, providing solid assurance for customers' investment and continuous production.
Hydraulic End: Precision Forging for Ultimate Pressure
Integrated Forging Hydraulic End: Inherent Strength and Integrity
The JWS-340 features a robust monoblock forged alloy steel hydraulic end (Mono-block Fluid End) 6, a signature design element engineered to withstand extreme pressure levels.
- Excellence in material selection: The hydraulic end is forged from a single block of high-strength alloy steel. We utilize premium-grade chromium-molybdenum alloy steels such as AISI 4130, AISI 4135, or 35CrMo, renowned for their exceptional tensile strength, toughness, and weldability during field repairs.
- Rigorous manufacturing process: Our production strictly adheres to API 7K standards, the gold standard for safety and reliability in oil and gas drilling and well maintenance equipment.
- Forging process: Through high pressure forging, the dense and uniform metal grain flow is formed, which fundamentally eliminates the defects of porosity and gas hole in the casting, and gives the hydraulic end extraordinary anti-fatigue cracking ability.
- Heat treatment: The multi-stage quenching and tempering heat treatment is adopted to make the module obtain the ideal balance of hardness (e.g. HB285-330) and toughness to cope with the impact of high pressure pulse.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Every hydraulic end product must undergo rigorous NDT procedures, including ultrasonic testing (UT) for internal integrity and magnetic particle inspection (MPI) or penetrant testing (PT) for surface micro-cracks, ensuring zero defects.
P-4 Valve System: The Core of High Pressure Fluid Control
The JWS-340 pump is designed with a P-4 specification valve assembly, ensuring valve and seat dimensions comply with industry standard 47. It features a fully open, wing-guided or center-guided slush-type valve, specifically engineered for handling solid-phase fluids.
Valve and valve seat construction:
Materials: The valve body and valve seat are forged from high strength alloy steel (AISI 8620 or 4130).
Heat treatment: The components are treated with a special carburizing and quenching process to form a very hard wear-resistant layer (hardness up to HRC 59-65) on the surface to resist the erosion of drilling fluid. Meanwhile, the core is kept with high toughness to absorb the huge impact force when the valve is closed.
Valve rubber technology:
Material: The standard valve rubber is made of high-performance polyurethane composite. Compared with traditional rubber, polyurethane has an overwhelming advantage in wear resistance, extrusion resistance, and resistance to oil-based/synthetic-based slurry corrosion.
Design: The valve rubber and valve body are precisely matched to ensure reliable sealing under high pressure. The advanced design features a pre-tightened structure, secured by a threaded pressure plate with a striking lug, enabling exceptionally quick on-site replacement of the valve rubber and significantly reducing maintenance time.
Temperature rating: Standard polyurethane valve rubber has a rated operating temperature of 180°F (82°C), with special formulation options available for higher-temperature applications.
The trapezoidal threaded valve cover made of forged steel can not only provide more reliable sealing, but also be more convenient and quick to disassemble and assemble than the bolt flange valve cover, which further improves the maintenance efficiency.
High-quality wear parts: Customized for specific applications, designed for ultra-long life
Cylinder Liner: The First Line of Defense Against Wear
High-Chrome Bi-Metal Liners:
The structure: The shell is made of forged steel (45 steel) to provide strong tensile strength to resist the circumferential stress caused by the pumping pressure. The lining is made of high chromium cast iron alloy (chromium content more than 26%) by centrifugal casting process.
Performance: The liner undergoes heat treatment to achieve a hardness of HRC 62-67, delivering exceptional wear and corrosion resistance for standard drilling fluid conditions. It typically achieves a stable service life exceeding 800 hours.
Applicable to general operation, water-based slurry, and high cost performance under non-extreme abrasion conditions.
Zirconia ceramic liners:
The structure: a steel shell is embedded with a strong pure zirconia (ZrO3) ceramic lining.
Performance: Zirconia ceramics boast exceptional hardness (>HRC 90), superior corrosion resistance, and a lower surface friction coefficient than high-chromium alloys. These features dramatically extend service life (typically exceeding 2,000 to 4,000 hours), while significantly reducing piston wear and lowering the need for cooling and lubrication systems.
Suitable for: High-abrasion drilling fluids (e.g., high-sand content), highly corrosive environments (e.g., high salinity or H2S-containing fluids), and any demanding operations where maximizing uptime and minimizing maintenance downtime are the primary objectives.
Piston and Plunger: The Core of Pumping Action
The JWS-340 can be flexibly configured as either a piston pump (for drilling mud processing) or a plunger pump (for pumping clean fluids like water or cement slurry) based on application requirements.
Pistons:
Structure: The piston core is made of high strength forged steel and vulcanized with wear-resistant elastomer.
Material options:
The bonded polyurethane piston is suitable for high pressure drilling and oil-based and synthetic-based muds, and is the best choice.
Bonded nitrile rubber piston: Suitable for standard water-based slurry, is a reliable and economical choice.
Plunger:
The structure: a special wear-resistant coating is applied on the surface of the solid metal matrix.
Material options:
Ceramic coated plunger: the ideal choice for abrasive fluids.
Tungsten carbide coated plunger: provides extreme wear resistance in ultra-high pressure applications. When combined with stainless steel matrix, it effectively balances wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Piston rod: a reliable power transmission link
- Materials: Forged from high-quality alloy steels such as 42CrMo or 35CrMo, ensuring excellent strength and toughness.
- Manufacturing Process: The piston rod undergoes integral heat treatment to enhance core strength and fatigue resistance. Subsequently, the rod surface is precision-milled and hard chrome-plated, forming an ultra-hard, smooth, and corrosion-resistant coating. This chrome layer not only resists wear but also significantly extends the service life of the packing seal, reducing leakage risks. The intermediate tie rod connected to the power end is made of stainless steel to prevent rusting in exposed sections.
