Gardner Denver FF-FXF double cylinder mud pump

Power End: forged for endurance

Frame and core components: the power end of the eccentric wheel, connecting rod and crosshead and other core load-bearing components are made of high-strength cast iron. In some of the FX series pumps, the connecting rod is made of ductile iron, which further enhances its toughness and impact resistance, reflecting the importance attached to the toughness of materials throughout the product line.

Gear system: the pump uses continuous chevron gear for power transmission.

Bearing Assembly: the main bearing is tapered roller bearing, and the input shaft is roller bearing. This configuration is capable of withstanding both high radial and axial loads and allows for precise pre-tightening adjustments. The connecting rod and crosshead pin bearings are made of high lead bronze. As a classical bearing material, bronze shows excellent self-lubrication and wear resistance in high-load reciprocating motion, which ensures the smooth operation of the transmission mechanism.

Lubrication system: the power end adopts a simple and efficient splash lubrication system. All internal working parts are continuously lubricated by a large 3-gallon (11.5-liter) oil sump in the crankcase. This design eliminates the need for complex oil lines and pumps and is highly reliable, ensuring that each moving part is adequately cooled and lubricated during prolonged continuous operation.

The hydraulic end: a powerful tool for overcoming abrasive environments

Hydraulic end construction: the FF-FXF comes with an all-in-one cast iron hydraulic end that is praised for its durability and structural simplicity. In some configurations, ductile iron with higher toughness is also used to cope with stronger pressure fluctuations and shocks.

Cylinder liners and piston rods (worn surfaces) : in mud, cementing, and cement services, the cylinder liner and piston rod are the most worn components. Cylinder liners and piston rods made of hardened steel are supplied as standard for these service conditions. After special heat treatment, this material has extremely high surface hardness and excellent wear resistance, which can effectively resist the erosion of solid particles such as sand and debris in mud. In contrast, in the case of conveying water, bronze material will be used.

Valves and seats: for Mud Service, steel wing pilot valves and steel seats are standard. This combination provides the toughness required to maintain reliable sealing and long-term durability in abrasive slurries. Stainless steel valves are also available to increase resistance to corrosive fluids.

Piston and packing: the pump provides a variety of piston types to accommodate different operating conditions. The piston is taper-fitted to the piston rod. Packing rings are usually made of braided polymer material and are available with Kevlar or double-layer packing as an optional upgrade to cope with higher pressures or more challenging sealing environments.

Main application areas

The core competitiveness of the pump is reflected in the following areas of strict requirements:

Shallow well drilling: ideal for mud and cementing services, FF-FXF reliably circulates drilling fluid, removes cuttings, and pumps cement slurry.

Exploration and geotechnical engineering: the pump is widely used in well drilling, core sampling and seismic exploration services. In these applications, its stable and reliable flow rate is essential to ensure the quality of sampling and the accuracy of seismic wave excitation.

Expanding industrial uses

In addition to conventional drilling, the FF-FXF's rugged design makes it ideal for a wider range of industrial fluids:

Oil and gas gathering and transportation: it can be used as crude oil transfer pump, pipeline pump and produced liquid production pump to ensure the smooth progress of oilfield production and transportation.

Mining & General Industry: Suitable for mine drainage, oil pipeline transportation and other general industrial services requiring medium and high pressure.

Maritime and logistics: its applications also include barge loading and unloading arm pumping, reflecting its versatility in mobile and fixed facilities.
